"I am both humbled and excited to return to the City of Greenville for this new opportunity," Graves said. "My municipal career started with the city fourteen years ago. Over the years, I have watched Greenville flourish into a metropolitan in its own right. I am looking forward to working with the City Council to explore additional opportunities for growth and development."

Graves will begin his position with Greenville on October 23. His annual salary will be $124,405.

"I am excited that Ken will be returning to the City of Greenville," Greenville City Manager Ann Wall said. "I have known Ken for a long time. He is a hard worker who brings a wealth of experience in local government that will serve our city well."

While in Rocky Mount, Graves has overseen and managed the Planning and Development Department's three divisions (Inspections, Community Development, and Planning), while also preparing and overseeing the department's $1.5 million budget. Highlights from Graves' professional accomplishments include:

• Assisting with designing an overlay district and implementing development incentive strategies for the downtown area
• Developing and drafting a Municipal Service District ordinance for a downtown quadrant
• Establishing appearance design guidelines for new developments located along major corridors
• Serving as the Committee Chair for the City of Rocky Mount in drafting and implementing the City's first comprehensive housing study, Crossroads to Prosperity
• Participating as a core team member in the Twin County Visioning Process
• Assisting with designing and implementing the City of Rocky Mount's Energy Share Rebate Program
• Developing and implementing the City of Rocky Mount's Land Development Code
• Drafting and implementing the Sunset Avenue Corridor Plan, Shearin Andrews Land Use Plan, Northern Connector Land Use Plan, Raleigh Road-Raleigh Street Land Use Plan, and the Fall Road-Peachtree Street Corridor Plan
