Façade Improvement Grants (FIGs)
Property owners or tenants within the city's historic Uptown commercial core (see map below) are eligible to apply for façade improvement grants to improve the exteriors of their properties and businesses. Grants for the July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018 cycle have been committed, therefore applications are not being accepted at this time. The next application cycle begins on July 1, 2018.
These matching grants are funded by the City of Greenville and awarded on a reimbursement basis with a maximum amount of $5,000 per façade (or side of a building). Tenants must have the property owner sign the application, and if selected, the contract.
Applicants must attend a pre-grant workshop (or attended a previous workshop) where assistance is provided to complete applications. Pre-grant workshops are scheduled as-needed, provided that program funding is available.
To apply or schedule a pre-grant workshop, please call 252.329.4486. The grants are awarded on a competitive basis. The Historic Preservation Commission reviews all applications and makes recommendations to the City Manager, who makes the final decision.
