The City of Greenville Recreation and Parks Department will continue to follow the guidelines provided by state and local health officials to help staff determine the status of indoor public facilities, departmental programs and events. Staff will continue to provide updates as decisions are made.
The following remain closed at this time:
At this time, it has been decided to postpone our summer day camp programming with a target begin date of July 6th. Summer day camp sessions scheduled between June 8th - July 3rd will be cancelled.
These camps include:
- Rec Plus Camp - H. Boyd Lee Park
- Camp Adventure - Greenville Aquatics & Fitness Center
- Playground Camp at Greenfield Terrace
- Eppes Summer Camp - Eppes Recreation Center
- Jamboree Camp at South Greenville
- Teen Voyager - H. Boyd Lee Park
- Camp Escape - Drew Steele Center
- Junior Explorers Camp - River Park North
- Outdoor Skills Challenge - River Park North
- Survivor Camp - River Park North
Those who are registered for the camps above during the weeks of June 8th - July 3rd will be contacted regarding a refund this week.
The decision to postpone summer day camps did not come easy, but it is required in order for staff to adapt to the new programming format which will be necessary due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Staff have been working to develop new safety measures for our full day camps and make sure we effectively train our employees to ensure those measures are met. If day camps are able to start July 6th, each camp will have a lower capacity than our traditional camps and will include new safety measures. Our top priority is keeping our participants and employees safe.
Other summer programs (art camps, dance camps, sports camps and tennis camps) which have lower capacity numbers, are still being evaluated and an update will be provided as soon as possible to participants registered in those programs.
We are looking forward to the time when we are providing leisure activities for the youth and adults within the Greenville community again. We know this is a challenging time for everyone and we appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through this unprecedented time.
