City Names New Assistant City Attorney

Donald Phillips will replace the retiring Bill Little

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The City of Greenville has a new Assistant City Attorney. Donald Phillips will fill the position to be vacated by Bill Little, who is retiring at the end of the July. 

Phillips is a native of eastern North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware. Prior to joining the City, Phillips worked with several law firms handling general civil litigation.

"I am excited and honored to be working for the City of Greenville," Phillips said. "This is a great opportunity to work with so many professionals to assist in providing legal services to such a progressive and thriving city. I truly enjoy helping others, collaborating and solving problems, and interacting with law enforcement and the public."

Phillips previously served as an Assistant Attorney General (North Carolina Department of Justice; Crime Control & Motor Vehicles Section), Assistant District Attorney (Prosecutorial District 16A), and a police officer (Henderson Police Department). He is admitted to practice law before all North Carolina state courts, the United States Fourth Court of Appeals, and the United States District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina.

As Greenville's Assistant City Attorney, Phillips' primary duties will be working with the Greenville Police Department. He will also provide legal services for other city departments.
