Mission Statement

The Public Works Department is comprised of a group of professionals committed to providing Greenville residents with the highest level of customer service via a cost effective, efficient and environmentally responsible operation.  We preserve and maintain the City's infrastructure and natural resources for the benefit of our residents, businesses and visitors.

The Public Works Department is composed of the following divisions: Street & Stormwater Maintenance, Transit (Greenville Area Transit or GREAT), Sanitation, Fleet Maintenance, Building & Grounds, and Administration. Through these divisions, the Public Works Department provides a host of services to our citizens.

The Public Works Department is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure and appearance of the City.  The department's budget is in excess of $11 million. These funds come from local taxes, service fees, and other state and federal grants. Details of the services provided can be found under the links to each division of the Public Works Department.
