GREENVILLE, N.C.  - For the 16th consecutive year, the City of Greenville has been recognized for excellence in purchasing standards.

The North Carolina Association of Governmental Purchasing (NCAGP) recently announced that the City has met the requirements to receive the prestigious 2023 Sustained Professional Purchasing Award. The award is presented annually to agencies that have demonstrated excellence in purchasing standards during the calendar year.

Criteria for the award include the use of technology, minority outreach, staff certification, customer training, vendor training, and the use of recycled products. Greenville is one of 16 agencies receiving this year's award.

"It is exciting to once again earn the Sustained Professional Purchasing Award for our excellent purchasing standards," City Manager Michael Cowin said. "We have a dedicated group of employees in our Financial Services Department. They work hard to make the purchasing process as efficient and effective as possible, and it is nice that they get recognized for that work."

This year's award will be presented at the Annual Association Banquet & Award Presentation on March 6 in Cherokee, North Carolina.
