Greenfield Terrace Park will soon be getting an upgrade after the Greenville City Council approved a construction contract during its meeting on Monday night.

The City Council awarded the contract to FASCO Inc., located in Kinston, for a cost of $1.22 million to make improvements to the Barnes-Ebron-Taft Community Building and surrounding areas at the park. The contract includes rerouting the existing walking path, reconfiguring and adding parking spaces, paving the parking lot and basketball court, building expansion, and interior renovations.

Highlights of the expansion of the Barnes-Ebron-Taft Community Building include the addition of 1,000 square feet of meeting space, new cabinets for the kitchen, and the addition of more windows in the building to increase natural light.

Construction, which is partially funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, is expected to begin in August 2024 and be completed in April of 2025.
