Interested in Becoming a Lifeguard?

If you are already a certified lifeguard please fill out an application via the Career Opportunities portal at the top of this page.

Are you interested in becoming a lifeguard, but do not have the required certification?

Apply to be an LIT and get paid to gain the skills to be a lifeguard. Only requirement is you will have to work for the Greenville Recreation &  Parks Department. 

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification

Ages: 15 & up

Strong swimming ability required

Become an American Red Cross Lifeguard. Course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies, CPR, First Aid and AED training. Pretest required, includes; 300 yard swim, treading and timed object retrieval. Must be age 15 by the last day of class. Fee includes $50 non-refundable deposit. Session times and locations may vary based on pool availability. This is a hybrid class; each student will need access to an electronic device and internet. Candidates are required to provide their own transportation to Washington, NC on Sunday session of course for deep water training. Session times and locations may vary based on pool availability; class is 24 hours long. There will be an online portion for classes.
