The City of Greenville will host the Little League® Softball World Series at least four more years after the City Council approved a contract extension with Little League® International on Monday night.
The agreement extends the City's deal with Little League® an additional two years for the international event to be held at Elm Street Park's Stallings Stadium through 2027. The City will maintain its responsibilities of maintaining facilities, providing $25,000 annually to the Pitt County Sports Commission to market the event, and providing transportation for players and umpires during the LLSWS.
The 2024 LLSWS will be the 50th anniversary of the event and include 12 teams, eight from the United States and four international teams. This year's event will begin with opening ceremonies on August 3 at the Town Common. Games will be played August 4-11 at Elm Street Park. More than 400 City staff, volunteers, and vendors are expected to support the event.
