The Greenville Police Department seeks to build strong relationships and mutual trust with the community it serves through various community service and crime prevention initiatives. Interacting with community members in a non-enforcement context helps to break down barriers and overcome stereotypes, while also building the necessary trust that is essential to addressing neighborhood problems and reducing crime.

The department participates in a variety of community outreach programs and initiatives such as:

  • Adult and youth police academies
  • Community events such as National Night Out
  • Police Athletic League (PAL) sports programs
  • Local school outreach
  • Charity food drives
