                                                                                          Night Hike at Wildwood                                                                                             Friday     October 14     7:00PM
Many of the critters that live in the park come out at night.  Join us as we hike about a mile in search of nocturnal animals that we don’t see as often during daylight hours.  Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.  Don’t forget your flashlight! Pre-registration is required click HERE to register online. Ages 7 and up with an adult.

                                                                                    Fall Tree ID at Wildwood                                                                                 Saturday          November 5           10:00AM
  As the weather cools and leaves change, trees look different in fall than they do in the summer.  Learn how to identify common trees of the park as we walk about a mile on the trail.  Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required click HERE to register online.  Ages 5 and up with an adult.

                                                                                     Fall Birding Hike at Wildwood                                                                                    Sunday     November 20     8:00AM
 

Wake up early with the birds and hit the trail to identify species at the park using tools that are commonly used by practiced birders.  We’ll walk about 1.5 miles, so bring a water bottle, comfortable footwear, and dress for the weather.  A limited number of binoculars will be available for participants to borrow. Pre-registration is required click HERE to register online. Ages 7 and up with an adult.

                                                                                             Winter Walk at Wildwood                                                                                           Sunday     January 8     2:00PM
 

Join us for some post-holiday seasonal exercise as we walk about 2 miles on the trail.  We’ll discuss how plants and animals act differently during the winter months and answer your questions about the flora and fauna of the park.  Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather.                                                                                      Mammals of Wildwood at Wildwood                                                                                       Saturday     February 25     10:00AM
 

What mammals live in and around Wildwood Park?  There may be some surprises.  Find out as we walk the trail and discuss what we know about which mammals call the park home.  We’ll walk about a mile, so wear comfortable footwear and dress for the weather. Wild About Mom - April 2022
 Go on a guided Arbor Day-inspired hike through Wildwood Park, enjoy a lake-side picnic lunch Gather for a family picture & take home a tree to plant as a family. All you will need to bring is mom & a picnic blanket. 

 

 National Kids to Park Day - May 2022

Kids to Parks Day is a national day of outdoor play celebrated annually on the 3rd Saturday of May. The day connects kids and families with their local, state, & national parks & public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery & exploration in the great outdoors. 

Join us at Wildwood Park for this celebration & discover the park by going on a scavenger hunt. The first 100 participants will receive a t-shirt once they have completed the hunt at Wildwood. This is a free event, pre-registration is encouraged.

At 9am you will check in with GRPD staff to get your scavenger hunt guide. You will need to bring a pen/pencil, something to write on, a water bottle, bug spray, etc. After you check in you will set off to see if you can find all the items in the park. The hunt should take about 45minutes to an hour. Once you have found and recorded all of the items come back to the check in location and grab your event shirt. (Shirts will be given to kids only) As always feel free to stay at the park and enjoy all that it has to offer! 

 

 

 

  National Trails Day: Treasure Hunt at WWP - June 4, 2022

❌Go on a treasure hunt for a golden boot 🥾 at Wildwood Park.
🗺The WWP staff will hide a golden boot on one of the trails at the park.
🔎Clues will be given once a day on Facebook starting June 1st.
☠This will be a self guided hunt starting June 4th in honor of National Trails Day.
🏆The lucky Treasure Hunter that finds the boot will win a Prize Pack that can be picked up at River Park North.

 Event Overview:
Come out to Wildwood Park & enjoy the different aspect of the Greenville Recreation & Parks Department and what we have to offer our population that is ages 50 plus. We have put together a great overview of what our department offers. Each activity cost only $5 to participate & includes more than just the activity, such as lunch, Zumba & more!
