Christmas Tree Recyling Program

Post Date:01/02/2014

“Out with the old and in with the new” is a popular refrain at the end of the year.  For many, “out with the old” means “out with the old Christmas tree.”

Greenville residents wanting the City to pick up their old Christmas trees should make sure to remove all decorations and ornaments before placing them at the curb (and not in the street or driveway). Sanitation crews will be picking trees up over the next few weeks and taking them to be recycled into mulch.

Due to the high demand of leaf pickup, crews may be running behind, so the City is asking for residents’ patience if their tree is not collected on the normal pickup day. For people who cannot wait, Public Works will host a tree drop-off at their 128 Hooker Road facility on Saturday, January 11, between the hours of 8:30-12:30.

For more information about the City’s recycling programs, call Cheryl Tafoya at 329-4048.
