National Night Out 2017
National Night out is right around the corner. Activities will be taking place across Greenville on the evening of Tuesday, August 1st. The theme “Protect Your Property” has been chosen as the focus for this year’s events. Officers will be on hand at each location distributing educational materials and giveaways.
BACKGROUND:
National Night Out was first developed by the non-profit National Association of Town Watch (NATW). It culminates annually on the first Tuesday of August. The year-long community building campaign promotes involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. It now involves more than 37 million people across 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide.
LINE-UP:
This year 22 neighborhoods and organizations have registered to host activities. Some activities planned for the evening include a street food festival, music, cookouts, and games.
