Greenville, NC jumped 85 and 121 spots in two “Best Cities” rankings related to Economic Development. Newgeography.com, a website devoted to community and economic development, demographics, and community leadership, has placed Greenville on two such lists.
According to the 2013 Best Cities for Job Growth list, Greenville ranked #5 out of 200 small sized cities and #6 in the nation (out of 357 metropolitan areas). That’s a jump of 85 positions on the national scale!
In the 2013 Best Cities for Job Growth rankings, Greenville jumped 121 spots to claim the #27 spot in the nation (out of 398 metro areas) and #16 for small sized cities (241 metro areas). The rankings use four measures of growth and Greenville is the top-ranked city in North Carolina in both categories.
“Many people around the country are learning what we have known all along,” said Economic Development Officer Carl Rees, “which is that the Greenville area is a great place to live, work and run a business. Although this is a great accolade, we have much work to do in order for Greenville to achieve its goal of growing into one of the top university and medical marketplaces in the United States.”
