The City of Greenville’s Fleet Superintendent has earned national credentials. Angel Maldonado has been awarded the American Public Works Association’s (APWA) Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) credential.

The CPFP is intended for seasoned government public fleet managers who supervise, manage, oversee, or administer fleet services within or for a public fleet entity. The purpose is to promote excellence in fleet management by advancing the knowledge and practice of public fleet professionals to benefit communities through quality fleet services.

Public Works Director Kevin Mulligan said, “The City of Greenville is committed to providing the best practices within our City operations.  Mr. Maldonado’s certification is a testament to his commitment to the City as well as the City’s commitment to its residents.  This is an example of providing the proper training to City professionals so that they can continue to provide excellent services while reducing our overall costs.”

 “APWA’s CPFP Certification is a hallmark of excellence,” said APWA Executive Director Peter B. King. “The APWA Certification programs promote excellence in public works. Being certified by APWA ensures competent, experienced, and well-trained employees.”

The Public Fleet Professional Certification program is designed to ensure individual competency and provide the public works industry with recognized hiring and promotion standards that will lead to an improved workforce and delivery of services. Since its inception, the APWA CPFP program has certified 110 Certified Public Fleet Professionals in North America.
